Industry Knowledge

Hangzhou Xinabo Intelligent Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd is a pipe fabrication equipment manufacturer based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, building intelligent threading machinery and site tooling since 2010. The 220V 14" Permanent Magnet Variable Frequency Cold Cutting Saw — Spark-Free, Burr-Free Metal Cutting is our carbide-blade cut-off saw for steel structures, curtain wall profiles and general metal fabrication, where the cut face must be ready for welding, threading or assembly without a second grinding pass.

The saw pairs a 355 mm carbide-tipped blade with a permanent magnet variable frequency motor running from a 220V AC 50Hz single-phase supply. Blade speed is adjustable from 0 to 1400 rpm, the base mitres through 0–45°, and the cutting envelope covers 120 mm round pipe and 100 × 100 mm square tube.

Specification Meaning at the Saw

Each figure below is a working limit, not a headline. We confirm the cutting envelope against your actual profile list before the saw is released.

Parameter Specification What it means in production
Rated voltage 220V AC, 50Hz Single-phase supply; the saw runs from a standard workshop outlet without a three-phase connection.
Motor Permanent magnet variable frequency motor High torque density at low blade speed, with speed held under load instead of sagging through a heavy wall.
Blade 14" (355 mm), carbide-tipped Toothed cutting action produces machined chips rather than sparks and abrasive dust.
Max cut — round pipe 120 mm Covers DN100 steel pipe and structural tube up to roughly 4" nominal outside diameter.
Max cut — square tube 100 × 100 mm Square and rectangular hollow section for frames, rails, shelving and keel blanks.
No-load speed 0–1400 rpm, adjustable Speed is dialled to the material: low for stainless and heavy wall, high for aluminium and thin-wall tube.
Cutting angle 0–45°, infinitely adjustable Mitre cuts for corner frames, handrails and curtain wall keels without re-clamping the work.
Standard accessories Cold saw blade, hex wrench Blade change and clamp adjustment are carried out with the tooling supplied in the carton.
Protection Built-in overload protection Blade speed reduces automatically in hard material instead of stalling the motor mid-cut.

Spark-Free, Burr-Free Cutting on the Shop Floor

A cold saw removes metal with teeth, not abrasion. The blade mills a chip from the section, so the operator sees a curl of steel instead of a spark shower, and the cut face leaves the machine square and bright.

  • No spark stream — safer next to insulation, coatings and finished surfaces, and no hot abrasive dust settling on adjacent work.
  • Cut face ready for the next operation — edges arrive at the threading machine, welder or assembly bench without a grinding step in most steel and aluminium work.
  • Low heat input — the section stays cool enough to handle shortly after the cut, which keeps mitre settings and clamp positions stable through a run.
  • Consistent blade path — the permanent magnet motor holds speed through the cut, so the last length of a batch matches the first.

Application Fit: Three Production Settings

Steel structure processing

Precision cutting of channel steel, angle steel, square tube and round pipe, plus steel frame blanking where the mitre angle and cut length are set from the drawing. The 120 mm round capacity covers the bracing and column tube sizes common to light structural work.

Curtain wall construction

Aluminium profile cutting, galvanised pipe cutting and curtain wall keel blanking. A carbide blade at the upper end of the speed range gives the clean, burr-free face that gasket and sealant lines need, and the 0–45° base handles corner returns in the same setup.

Metal fabrication

Metal pipe cutting, railing processing and shelving profile blanking, including mixed batches of tube and flat bar where one saw has to move between sizes through a shift.

Blade, Material and Speed Matching

The saw ships with a carbide-tipped cold saw blade as standard. Tooth count and carbide grade decide finish and blade life, so the blade fitted is matched to the material mix you cut most.

Material Typical work Speed window
Carbon steel pipe and section Frames, rails, structural blanking Mid range
Galvanised steel Conduit, curtain wall pipe, keel Mid range
Aluminium profile Curtain wall, trim, light frames Upper range
Stainless and work-hardening grades Handrail, fittings, wet-area work Low range, blade grade agreed at order

Wall thickness matters as much as diameter. A 3 mm wall in 100 mm tube cuts faster than a 6 mm wall in 60 mm tube, and the speed setting follows the section, not the outside dimension.

Speed Control, Overload Protection and Cut Quality

The variable frequency drive lets the operator set blade speed for the job rather than accept a single fixed speed. In hard material the built-in overload protection reduces speed automatically, which protects the blade teeth and keeps the cut running instead of stalling.

Three settings carry most of the quality: blade speed, down-feed rate and clamp pressure. We cover all three in the operating manual supplied with the saw, and the demonstration session walks the operator through them on your own material.

Clamping, Mitre Setting and Operator Safety

  • Quick clamping device — the work is held against the fence before the blade enters, so thin-wall tube does not climb or rotate during the cut.
  • Safety guard — covers the blade through the cutting arc and returns to the parked position after each stroke.
  • 0–45° mitre base — infinitely adjustable, with the angle set and locked before clamping so the cut length stays true on angled work.
  • Overload protection — removes the temptation to force a dull blade through a hard section.

Installation, Power and Shop Integration

The saw is a 220V AC 50Hz single-phase machine, so it can be placed where the work is rather than where a three-phase distribution board happens to be. It needs a level bench or stand with clearance for the full blade stroke and for long stock to pass through the clamp.

Blade changes use the hex wrench supplied. Keep the blade arbor and clamping faces clean, check the guard movement before each shift, and clear chips from the base and vice so the mitre scale reads true. Site voltage should be confirmed against the 220V 50Hz rating before commissioning; where the local supply differs, we discuss the supply arrangement with you at order stage.

Quality Control and Conformity Documentation

Xinabo has held the National High-tech Enterprise title since 2023 and works from a 10,000 m² factory in the Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, with 30 patents covering pipe threading, clamping and cutting mechanisms. Our finished product rate is 99.9%, supported by in-house assembly and inspection before packing.

Conformity documentation for our machinery includes Machinery Directive and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive attestation of conformity. The documents issued with your order are confirmed at order stage so the file matches the destination and the project's acceptance requirements.

The Pipe Fabrication Range Around the Saw

The cold saw is one station in a fabrication sequence that starts at cut-off and ends at pressure test. We supply the stations around it from the same factory.

Pipe Fabrication & Installation Equipment

The parent range: intelligent threading machines, pipe tightening machines, oil-free piston air compressors, cold saws, drilling machines and pressure test pumps, specified together when a workshop is laid out as a line rather than as individual machines.

220V Fire Pipe Drilling Machine — φ16-φ114mm Holes, DN15-DN200 Pipe Compatible

Outlet and branch drilling on fire protection pipework, used after the saw has cut the main run to length.

380V Electric Hydrostatic Pressure Test Pump — 0-6MPa Adjustable with Auto Pressure-Hold

Hydrostatic testing and leak detection at the end of the sequence, on the assembled spool rather than the cut length.

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

We prepare a saw configuration and quotation from the working point, not from a catalogue number. The list below is what shortens the exchange.

  • Material and grade — carbon steel, galvanised, aluminium or stainless, and the share of each in a typical week.
  • Profile list — outside diameter, square or rectangular size, wall thickness and the largest section in the batch.
  • Cut requirement — straight or mitred, mitre angles used, cut length tolerance and the finish the next operation accepts.
  • Throughput — cuts per shift and how often the saw changes size or material.
  • Site conditions — supply voltage and frequency, bench or stand, available floor space and stock support at both ends.
  • Blades and spares — the blade specification for the dominant material and the spare blades to hold on site.
  • Documentation and delivery — manual language, conformity documents required for acceptance, packing and destination.

Maintenance, Spares and Support

Daily attention is limited to the guard, the clamp faces and chip clearance. Blade changes are a wrench job with the arbor accessible from the guard opening, and blade wear shows first as a burr on the exit edge or a rise in motor load.

Xinabo holds spare parts for our machines and provides technical support and operator training for buyer partners on request. A product expert can run a live demonstration of the saw on your material before you commit to a configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes can the 14" cold saw cut?

Up to 120 mm outside diameter on round pipe and 100 × 100 mm on square tube, with the base set anywhere from 0° to 45° for mitred work. That covers DN100 steel pipe and the structural tube sizes used in frames, rails and curtain wall keels.

Does it cut without sparks and without a burr?

Yes. A carbide-tipped blade mills a chip from the section instead of grinding it away, so there is no spark stream and no abrasive dust. The cut face is smooth enough that steel and aluminium work normally goes straight to threading, welding or assembly without a second finishing pass; heavy wall and work-hardening grades are checked on the first cut of a batch.

What power supply does the saw need?

220V AC at 50Hz, single phase, through a standard workshop outlet. Confirm the site voltage and frequency before commissioning; where the local supply differs from the rating plate, we discuss the arrangement with you when the order is placed.

How is blade speed set for different materials?

The permanent magnet variable frequency motor runs from 0 to 1400 rpm on an adjustable dial. Aluminium and thin-wall tube run at the upper end, carbon and galvanised steel in the middle, and stainless or heavy wall at the low end. Built-in overload protection reduces speed automatically if the blade meets harder material than expected.

What is supplied with the machine, and can we get spare blades?

The carton contains the saw, a carbide-tipped cold saw blade and a hex wrench for blade changes and clamp adjustment. Spare blades and replacement parts are supplied from our factory, and the blade specification is agreed at order stage against the material mix you cut most.

How do we get a configuration and quotation?

Send the material list, profile sizes and wall thicknesses, mitre angles, cuts per shift and site supply details. We return a saw configuration, blade recommendation, accessory list and delivery scope, and can arrange a live demonstration on your material before the order is confirmed.
