Industry Knowledge

Hangzhou Xinabo Intelligent Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd designs and builds pipeline fabrication machinery and cordless power tools at our factory in Hangzhou, China. The 21V Lithium-Ion Cordless Spray Gun (Small Airplane Model) — High-Pressure Atomization, No Compressor Needed is the compact coating tool in that cordless line: a brushless, battery-driven gun that atomises coating at up to 0.3 MPa without a compressor, air hose or receiver tank.

We built this model for work where a compressor is impractical to move or justify — occupied buildings, stairwells, small workshops, railings, equipment skids and one-off refinishing. It handles paint, latex, varnish and water-based coatings at an adjustable 1200 ml/min, with a 0–200 mm pattern and an anti-drip valve that stops the nozzle weeping between passes.

  • 21V DC brushless drive — no brushes to replace, no mains cable to drag.
  • 0–0.3 MPa atomising pressure — high-pressure atomisation from a handheld unit.
  • 1200 ml/min adjustable flow and 0–200 mm adjustable pattern.
  • Anti-drip valve to limit spitting and runs at trigger release.
  • Supplied kit: spray gun, battery, charger, cleaning kit and nozzles.

Where the Small Airplane Model Sits in Our Cordless Range

Our lithium-ion spray gun range covers two duty levels. The Small Airplane model is the portable, low-weight option for touch-up, refinishing and light protective coating; the MT model is the industrial-grade gun with a higher 0–0.5 MPa pressure window for work that needs a denser, more driven atomisation.

Model Spray pressure Flow and pattern Build and typical duty
Small Airplane model 0–0.3 MPa 1200 ml/min adjustable; 0–200 mm pattern Lightweight handheld; wall touch-up, furniture, doors and windows, railings, equipment and craft work
MT model 0–0.5 MPa adjustable Set by model configuration Industrial-grade build for heavier, more continuous coating work

Both guns run on the 21V lithium-ion platform, and the backpack lithium battery pack in our range is designed to power 21V–60V tools for extended continuous operation where a single pack is not enough for the shift.

Specifications and What They Mean on the Job

Parameter Published value Practical meaning
Rated voltage 21V DC Cordless operation from the 21V pack; no mains supply on the scaffold or in the room being finished
Motor type Brushless No carbon brushes to wear out; steadier output under load
Spray pressure 0–0.3 MPa Suits low- to medium-viscosity decorative and light protective coatings; high-solids products need thinning or the MT model
Spray flow rate 1200 ml/min, adjustable Sets wet film build and coverage speed; turn down for detail and edges, up for broad panels
Atomization range 0–200 mm, adjustable Narrow fan for frames and trim, wide fan for walls and flat panels
Paint types Paint, latex, varnish, water-based paints One gun across decoration and light protection; each coating still needs its own thinning and nozzle check
Anti-drip Yes Limits spitting and runs when the trigger is released or the gun is set down
Standard accessories Spray gun, battery, charger, cleaning kit, nozzles Ready to run from the case; nozzles cover the common coating viscosities

Coating, Substrate and Surface Preparation

Film quality is decided before the trigger is pulled. The gun delivers an even atomised fan; the coating, its viscosity and the substrate underneath decide whether that fan lands as a flat film or as orange peel and runs.

  • Viscosity first. Thin to the coating maker's spraying viscosity with the recommended thinner or water, then strain the product before filling the cup.
  • Nozzle match. Use the nozzle that suits the coating — thin stains and varnishes flow through a smaller orifice than latex or high-build paint.
  • Substrate preparation. Degrease, sand and dust off; bare steel and aluminium need the specified primer before a topcoat.
  • Masking and protection. Mask glass, hardware, threads and machined faces; a 200 mm fan reaches further than expected on a windy site.
  • Test panel. Spray a scrap of the same material to confirm pattern width, flow setting and film build before committing to the workpiece.

Spray Technique, Film Build and Finish Quality

The Small Airplane model is light enough to work overhead and at arm's length for long passes, which is where most finish defects are avoided. Keep the gun perpendicular to the surface, hold a consistent distance, and let the wrist follow the pass rather than pivoting from the elbow.

  • Trigger on before the pass starts and off after it ends, so the fan never opens or closes over the workpiece.
  • Overlap each pass by roughly half the fan width and keep the speed constant.
  • Build two or three thin coats rather than one heavy coat; observe the coating maker's flash-off and recoat window.
  • On vertical surfaces, work from the top down and reduce flow slightly to control sag.
  • Spray in still air where possible; strong cross-draughts pull the fan and dry the droplets before they land.

Battery, Runtime and the 21V Platform

Runtime depends on the coating, the flow setting and how hard the pump is working, so we size battery quantities against the job rather than quoting a single figure. For a room, a door set or a railing run, a charged pack plus one spare covers normal working; for shift-length coating of equipment or long runs of railing, the backpack pack is the practical answer.

  • Charge the pack fully before first use and keep a second pack on rotation on larger jobs.
  • Store packs charged, dry and away from direct sun; avoid leaving a pack fully discharged between jobs.
  • Charger input and plug type are fixed at order stage against the destination market.
  • Keep the battery contacts clean of overspray and solvent — wipe the pack housing after each session.

Cleaning, Maintenance and Spare Parts

Coating left in the nozzle, air cap or fluid passage is the most common cause of a poor pattern on the next job. Cleaning is a ten-minute routine at the end of every session, not a weekly task.

  1. Empty the cup and flush the fluid path with the thinner or water recommended for the coating.
  2. Remove the nozzle and air cap, soak them in compatible solvent and clean the orifices with the supplied cleaning kit — never with a metal probe.
  3. Wipe the gun body and trigger; do not immerse the whole gun or the motor housing.
  4. Reassemble dry, check the nozzle seat and store the gun in its case.
  5. Replace worn nozzles and seals from our spare parts supply rather than reaming them out.

Safety and Site Conditions

  • Spray only in ventilated areas; solvent and water-based mists both need extraction or open cross-ventilation.
  • Wear a suitable respirator, eye protection and gloves matched to the coating, and cover exposed skin.
  • Keep ignition sources, hot work and smoking away from the spray zone and from freshly coated surfaces.
  • Charge batteries on a dry, non-flammable surface away from solvent containers and overspray.
  • Follow the coating maker's safety data sheet for thinning, clean-up and waste disposal.

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

As a cordless power tool manufacturer in China, we quote from the working point rather than from a model name alone. The details below let us confirm the gun, nozzle set, battery quantity and packing in one pass.

  • Coating: product type, solids content and the viscosity you spray at.
  • Substrate and area: material, surface finish required, square metres or unit count per job.
  • Film specification: target dry film thickness, number of coats and acceptable finish standard.
  • Working environment: indoor or outdoor, ventilation, temperature range and shift length.
  • Kit scope: batteries per gun, charger type, nozzle sizes and cleaning consumables.
  • Order data: quantity, packaging and labelling requirements, destination market and documentation language.

Quality Control, Packing and Delivery Scope

Our factory works to incoming material screening, in-process assembly checks and finished-product inspection, the same routine that supports our pipeline machinery lines. Spray guns are checked for trigger action, atomisation and accessory completeness before packing, and each kit is packed with the gun, battery, charger, cleaning kit and nozzles as standard.

  • Carton and inner packing are specified per order, including retail-ready or bulk configurations.
  • Documentation, labels and manuals are confirmed against the destination market at order stage.
  • Spare nozzles, seals and cleaning kits ship with the order or as a separate parts line.
  • Technical support and operator training on our machinery range are available to our partners on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Small Airplane model need an air compressor?

No. The 21V brushless motor drives high-pressure atomisation inside the gun, so there is no compressor, air hose or receiver tank. You need the gun, a charged battery and the coating.

Which coatings can it spray?

Paint, latex, varnish and water-based paints are the supported coating types. Each product should be thinned to its spraying viscosity and strained before use, and the nozzle matched to that viscosity.

What are the maximum pressure, flow and pattern width?

Spray pressure is 0–0.3 MPa, spray flow is 1200 ml/min and adjustable, and the atomisation range is 0–200 mm and adjustable. Flow and pattern are set on the gun to suit the coating and the surface.

How does it differ from the MT model?

The 21V Lithium-Ion Cordless Spray Gun (MT Model) is the industrial-grade unit with a 0–0.5 MPa adjustable pressure window. The Small Airplane model is the lighter, more portable gun at 0–0.3 MPa for touch-up, refinishing and light protective coating.

How do we extend runtime on longer coating jobs?

Carry spare 21V packs and rotate them, or use the backpack lithium battery pack from our range, which is designed to power 21V–60V tools for extended continuous operation.

What do you need from us to prepare a quotation?

Send the coating type and viscosity, substrate and area, target film thickness and finish, working environment, required kit scope, order quantity, packaging and labelling requirements, and the destination market for charger and documentation configuration.
